Grant of Representation Service Pricing

Our fixed fee service offers you peace of mind from the outset

Where there is no inheritance tax to pay our fixed fee service costs £750 plus VAT plus standard disbursements.

Where there is inheritance tax to pay our fixed fee service costs £1,000 plus VAT plus standard disbursements.

Standard disbursements – These are payments that need to be made to third parties during the provision of our service and are in addition to our fixed fee. Most estates require the following:

  • Probate Court fee - £155
  • Additional copies of the Grant of Representation - 50p per copy

What is included in the service?

We will:

  • Explain to you the legal work that may be required for a Grant of Representation to be issued
  • Ascertain any discrepancies in the deceased’s name
  • In intestacy cases we will confirm entitlement to apply for probate based on the information provided
  • Check that the Will/Codicil is signed, dated and witnessed correctly to ensure that it is valid
  • Check the names and addresses of the Personal Representative(s)
  • Prepare the HMRC Inheritance Tax form based on information that you provide
  • Ascertain tax exempt beneficiaries for the HMRC Inheritance Tax form
  • Prepare the application for the Grant of Representation based on information that you provide

What is not included in the service?

We will not:

  • Advise on beneficial provisions made within a Will or verify or contact any beneficiaries
  • Advise on any beneficial entitlement under intestacy or verify or contact any beneficiaries
  • Value or administer any assets or settle liabilities or any other part of the estate or distribute the estate to any beneficiaries
  • Prepare additional Inheritance Tax Forms other than those required for the Grant or respond to any enquiries from HMRC
  • Advise on the Estate Administration process either before or after issue of the Grant
  • Prepare any Notices to or on behalf of any other Personal Representatives (including but not limited to Renunciations, Notices of Power Reserved or Powers of Attorney)
  • Prepare any additional documents in response to any Probate Court enquiries
  • Provide any tax advice (including but not limited to Inheritance Tax, Capital Gains Tax and Income Tax)
  • Respond to any enquiries from the Department of Work and Pensions
  • Advise or defend any challenges to the estate or place or warn off any Caveats
  • Make any decisions on your behalf, you will always be consulted and asked to approve all documentation before we apply for the Grant of Representation
  • Take instructions from anyone but you unless you authorise us to do so
