Emma joined NewLaw in February 2011 and is Head of the Medical Negligence.

During her career Emma has dealt with personal injury as well as clinical negligence cases. She has settled a number of very high value personal injury and clinical negligence  claims including million pound plus brain injury cases. Whilst specializing in clinical negligence claims she dealt with one of the first settled cases concerning the contraction of the hospital bug MRSA. Emma also dealt with a group action involving over 40 claimants suing a hospital over negligent joint replacement surgery.

Born and brought up in South Wales, Emma studied Law at Cardiff University and Chester Law School.  She qualified as a solicitor in 1996 and has practiced in the area ever since covering all aspects of personal injury and clinical negligence claims ranging from very low to very high value claims.

Emma is married and has 2 young children. Before having children she very much enjoyed travelling and skiing and now spends her free time running after her children.

Tina Ashley qualified as a Solicitor in 2009, and joined NewLaw in November 2015 having previously worked at a National Law firm in England. Prior to specialising in clinical negligence cases, Tina handled high value personal injury claims resulting from motorcycle accidents. On qualification she specialised in medical and clinical negligence cases, and has handled a wide variety of cases, including orthopaedics, vascular, cardiology, general medicine and GP actions.

Tina deals with high value, complex cases including surgical and fatal claims; she has a particular interest in cases involving infection.  She regularly recovers six figure sums in damages for her clients.  She has built on her early experience of assisting on birth injury cases (including a £7 million cerebral palsy case) and is now running her own caseload of complex, high value birth injury claims.

In her spare time, Tina enjoys long walks with her husband and dog, Mia, and enjoys eating out and reading.

Nicola joined NewLaw in October 2012, and specialises in Clinical and Medical Negligence Claims. She has a varied caseload, with a focus on cases involving oncology and also works on cases involving orthopaedic problems to include spinal injuries. 

Nicola is a longstanding member of the Law Society’s PI accreditation panel, she is also a volunteer on the helpline for the medical accidents charity AvMA.

In her spare time Nicola enjoys running, travel and good food.

Rhys joined NewLaw Solicitors Clinical Negligence team in October 2016 after qualifying as a Solicitor in September 2016. He studied his undergraduate and Masters degree in Law at Glamorgan University and completed his Legal Practice Course at Cardiff University of Law School. 

His experience comes from previously being employed with the NHS in Wales, where he defended both Personal Injury and Medical Negligence claims. 

Rhys' defendant experience within the NHS allows him to have a unique insight and excellent understanding in dealing with Clinical Negligence claims.

In his spare time, Rhys plays the saxophone, enjoys travelling (lived in China for a year) and attempts to brew his own beer.

Frances Wright has over 20 years’ experience as a Claimant clinical negligence solicitor.  In 1997 she achieved accreditation to the first specialist accreditation scheme for clinical negligence lawyers, run by the charity Action against Medical Accidents (AvMA).  

Frances has worked in Bristol for most of her career, and was a partner at two previous law firms before joining NewLaw Solicitors. 

She handles a range of complex, high-value cases including birth injuries, surgical matters, amputation and neurological injuries. She also deals with fatal claims and represents families at inquest.

In her spare time, Frances is a Trustee for Cerebral Palsy Plus.

Rosie joined NewLaw Solicitors in January 2015, with a background of Professional Negligence and Personal Injury work.

Rosie grew up in Pembrokeshire before attending Cardiff University to complete her law degree and then qualified as a Chartered Legal Executive.

Rosie now works as part of the Medical and Clinical Negligence team, dealing with a variety of different claims, in particular fatalities and oncology claims. 

Rosie is a volunteer for the Action Against Medical Accidents (AvMA) helpline, providing legal help and support for people who are victims of medical accidents. 

Outside of work, Rosie’s interests include travelling, playing netball and reading.

Michael started working at NewLaw Solicitors in September 2010 after completing his LLB Law Degree at Swansea University and gaining experience working at a local solicitors practice. 

On joining NewLaw, Michael worked in the Fast-Track department dealing with all aspects of personal injury and gained significant experience in litigation. In April 2015 Michael was admitted Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives, and now specialises in Medical and Clinical Negligence claims. 

He has experience with all types of medical negligence claims and thrives on seeing the case from start to end. Michael has a varied caseload of varying complexity, and his special interests are cases arising from the failure to correctly diagnose cancer, cosmetic procedures and orthopaedic injuries which were incorrectly treated.

Outside of work Michael’s interests include playing football and watching his local team Barry Town United, as well as socialising with friends and family.

Holly joined NewLaw in June 2015 after graduating from Cardiff University with an LLB in Law and Politics. She has joined the clinical negligence team as a case assistant and is enjoying gaining experience and learning from the rest of the team. Holly’s favourite part of her role is liaising with other professionals. 

In her spare time Holly enjoys watching the football and films, she also enjoys exploring Cardiff after recently moving to Wales from Essex.
