Police officer court case 'could lead to motorcycle accident compensation'

04/03/2010

A police officer has appeared in court charged with dangerous driving during the pursuit of a motorcycle in Stalybridge.

The BBC reported that Alan Stuart Long died from injuries sustained after colliding with a Volkswagen Polo after he failed to stop for police officers.

Following an investigation by the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC), the charge of dangerous driving was brought against PC Ian Bruce, 33.

If Mr Bruce is found guilty, it could pave the way fro Mr Long's family to make a claim for motorcycle accident compensation against the police force.

Mr Bruce has denied the charge at a hearing at Liverpool Crown Court and has been released on bail until June 7th, the news provider stated.

The IPCC was established in April 2004 and investigates complaints made against the conduct of the police force, the Serious Organised Crime Agency, HM Revenue and Customs and the UK Border Agency.ADNFCR-2875-ID-19650128-ADNFCR
