Noise Induced Hearing Loss is a reduction in a person’s hearing caused by prolonged and excessive levels of noise exposure in certain occupations or industries. Tinnitus involves a person suffering ringing, buzzing, whistling or humming in their ears and is a painful and unpleasant condition people frequently suffer from whilst exposed to excessive noise levels.
Both conditions usually occur because hearing protection was not available during the course of their employment and typically affects the following types of workers:
However, it should be noted that workers in other industries can also be affected.
