The Occupational Illness team at NewLaw is recognised for its expertise in hearing loss, lung disease and hand/arm vibration injuries suffered by employees as a result of thier work.
An occupational illness is an illness, disease or disability resulting from conditions of employment and is usually due to exposure to physical, biological and chemical agents. Some take a long time to develop (e.g. asbestos related illnesses) and it is often after someone has left an employer that they are diagnosed with the illness. In some cases a person might still be employed by the same employer and we recognize that this can be a sensitive issue.
Some of the most well known occupational illnesses include: -
- Deafness/tinnitus caused by work noise
- Vibration white finger
- Asbestos related diseases
- Chronic bronchitis/emphysema
- Dermatitis
