Motorcyclist left with brain injury calls for inquiry into crash

02/07/2010

A motorcyclist who was left with a permanent brain injury after an accident in north Wales has called for an inquiry into his crash.

Noel Williams, 58, was thrown from his motorcycle on February 17th when he was approaching the Denbigh Road roundabout in Mold, Flintshire.

He claimed that thick mud on the road caused his front wheel to slip, resulting in his vehicle leaving the road, according to the Flintshire Chronicle.

Mr Williams has now called the council to take responsibility for the accident, after he was left with serious head injuries which affect his speech and memory.

Speaking to the newspaper, he said: "Someone should be held to account over this."

An investigation into the accident by the North Wales police concluded that there was insufficient evidence to prosecute the contractors for the muddy road surface.

Earlier this week, the police announced that its Operational Services Group, aimed at lowering the number of crash fatalities, had reduced road casualties by ten per cent over the past year.
