Man receives motorcycle accident compensation
01/07/2010
A man has received £650,000 in compensation after he was seriously injured in a motorcycle accident four years ago.
On July 10th 2006, Antony Williams, 33, was knocked off his motorbike in Cricklade, Wiltshire, by a Vauxhall Astra, who swerved into his lane to avoid a lorry pulling out.
The IT consultant sustained serious wounds, including a fractured pelvis, back and wrist, as well as a minor brain injury, according to the Wilts and Gloucestershire Standard.
Speaking to the newspaper, the crash victim explained that he is always in pain and relies on morphine pouches so he can have "some kind of life".
This week, Mr Williams received a compensation payout of £650,000, which was calculated on his loss of earnings.
He said: "We are still in a bit of shock but at the end of the day it is not a life-changing amount of money for someone in my situation."
According to recent figures from the Department for Transport, there were 20,703 motorcycle user casualties in the UK in 2009.
