Man with serious injuries cut free from car

A man has been rushed to hospital with serious injuries after having to be cut from his vehicle following a road traffic collision.
The accident involving two cars happened on Basingstoke Road in Reading at 19:30 BST on Saturday night (June 26th).
According to the Reading Chronicle, firemen from Caversham and Wokingham Road fire stations attended the scene and spent an hour cutting the driver of a green Ford Escort free from his vehicle.
Speaking to the newspaper, crew manager Bell said: "The crash seemed to be a low speed impact but ambulance crews asked us to attend because the man was complaining of neck pain. We would remind drivers to be safe on the roads."
The man was then taken to hospital for treatment to his wounds, while the other driver remained unharmed in the collision.
According to recent figures released by the Department for Transport, there were just over 222,000 road casualties in the UK in 2009.
