NewLaw has won £780,000 for a Benfleet man in an out-of-court settlement after an accident at work caused him severe head injuries.
Mark Treadwell, 45, was employed by Schenker Stinnes Logistics when in March 2006 he was working on a loading bay at the rear of a lorry when it unexpectedly reversed, crushing his head against a wall.
The firm were subsequently prosecuted under health and safety legislation and liability for the incident was admitted.
Mr Treadwell has suffered considerable after effects from the injury. His sense of balance is affected and he does not like to go out alone.
He is fortunate that his wife is a nurse practitioner and she has been able to help him through the injury.
Mr Treadwell's legal case has been managed by Elisabeth Roth of Cardiff-based NewLaw, who is a specialist in dealing with injuries at work.
"Mark's life was transformed in an instant because of lax working practices and the carelessness of a working colleague," says Elisabeth Roth.
"He was an active and sporty regular guy, happily married to Diane. Now he needs help as soon as he goes out of his house. Fortunately now Mark will be independent of others and can pay for the help he needs for the rest of his life."
