Cardiff-based law firm NewLaw has appointed four new partners to strengthen the management team in support of its strategy to become one of the largest law firms in south Wales.
New partner Jonathan Holt is also the firm’s chief operating officer. He set up Holt Phillips in Bristol, then later it merged with Eversheds and he became head of Eversheds’ commercial practice group and a member of the senior management team. He joined NewLaw in 2008.
Adele Jones becomes the firm’s compliance and risk partner. She was previously a partner with Cartwright Adams & Black in Cardiff where she specialised in defendant personal injury work. Adele has been a deputy district judge for over 10 years, sitting throughout the South Wales region, and joined NewLaw in 2006.
Rob Thomas becomes technical claims partner. He joined NewLaw’s serious injury team in January 2009, having previously been a partner in the catastrophic injury team at Hugh James. He has studied at Iowa State University in the USA and specialises in brain and head injuries. Rob is head of all the technical claims units at NewLaw and is a qualified forklift truck driver.
Jon Fitzpatrick is appointed training partner. Throughout his career he has worked predominantly in personal injury and was formerly a partner with Tayntons in Gloucester, in charge of the insurer defence team. He recently joined NewLaw after a career break.
These new appointments bring the number of partners to six. NewLaw was set up by Helen Molyneux with a team of five people in 2004, but in the last five years the firm has grown to a staff of 210.
