Elisabeth Roth of NewLaw Solicitors in Cardiff has been appointed as the Consul of Sweden to Wales for the next 4 years. In the role she will facilitate contact between Swedish companies that may be interested in investing in south, mid and west Wales, and the Welsh Assembly Government and Welsh Office. She will be a contact for Welsh companies wishing to trade with Sweden. Raise Sweden’s profile in Wales, with Swedish events such as photographic exhibitions, food fairs, and choir exchanges.
The day to day matters include accepting visa applications, handing out new passports, certifying documents also assisting Swedish citizens in distress in Wales such as following accidents, imprisonment, victims of crime, or as a result of other emergency situations.
Commenting on the appointment Elisabeth said,
“I was approached for the role by the previous Consul and then interviewed by the Ambassador of Sweden and her advisor. I had to provide a reference, who was a former ambassador I have known since my teenage years. I am looking forward to working with the Consul staff further building on their work promoting the two countries.”
